Because we are dedicated to the production of a quality, all grass fed meat, our animal numbers are limited. We have only those numbers that can be well maintained on farm produced grasses.
Predator problems include two primary species: the bald eagle that will cripple and blind a calf or take a lamb; and the coyote that will take any sheep or lamb.
Our control methods are passive:
1) All of our sheep are brought into the animal yards for safety at night.
2) We keep a sharp eye on the sheep and cows from our home on a hill above the pastures, and we use our beloved “insurance policy” guard dogs, Hart and Allie.
Our animals are born here, nurtured here and allowed to grow out on our grass. They are given no maintenance antibiotics or growth hormones. We know their parentage, health history and life story.
